Boiler Tube Sheets

ISA boards can be used to replace ram or castable with needles packed around tubes. ISA boards provide superior installation capabilities. Boards can be preshrunk and machined to tight tolerances. Boards are processed on the CNC by section then layered to cover seams between layers.

A three layer design consists of one layer of 2600° board at 2” thick for the hot face and 2 layers of 2300° board at 3” thick for backing. The Board is anchored to end plates or can be held in place by sleeves around tubes. Temperature rating of boards range from 2300° F to 3000° F and in thicknesses from 1/4” to 8”.

Special coatings can be applied to resist moisture while maintaining structural integrity. Our products function well in most atmospheres.

Burner Blocks with SiC liners

Blocks were designed by a customer with North American 4422 burners. Burners are non re-circulating with a 2100° F Operating Temperature. Previous blocks were castable refractory lasting 9 to 12 months, and were much heavier and difficult to install.

The 2300° Vacuum Formed blocks are lighter in weight and outperform castable blocks with a 18+ month service and continuing to perform. SiC liner provides superior erosion resistance. ISA can provide blocks with or without liners.

Also pictured are large furnace blocks for temperatures up to 2600° F. ISA can provide blocks for furnaces up to 3000° F.

ISAGlue, ISAMoldable, RCF Coating Cement, and Rigidizer

Available from Insulation Specialties are specialty products for ceramic fiber.

ISAMoldable is a putty-like consistency product that is applied by caulking, troweling, and/or by hand forming. Upon completion of drying the material possesses excellent green strength in addition to superior resistance to molten aluminum. Available in standard ceramic fiber, non-ceramic fiber, AZS, and high alumina formulations for higher temperatures up to 3000° F.

ISAGlue is a high temperature refractory cement that is a very versatile material with uses ranging from bonding ceramic fiber shapes together to repairing cracks in refractories, along with countless other uses. Available in standard ceramic fiber, AZS, and high alumina formulations.

RCF Coating Cement has a temperature grade rating of 2300°F. The consistency of the cement coating makes it very versatile and provides a range of applications such as brushing, dipping, spraying, etc… The coating once dry possesses good adhesion to most materials, erosion resistance, thermal reflectance, and resists wetting on non-ferrous metals.

Rigidizer is a inorganic liquid hardener for use on ceramic fiber boards and shapes. Available in 1 gallon pails up to 55 gal drums.

All four ISAMoldable products are available in:

  • 11 ounce Caulk Tubes
  • 1 Gallon Pails
  • 4 Gallon Pails
  • 5 gallon Pails

Covers

Insulation Specialties manufactures ceramic fiber covers for many insulating needs. Covers can be made in several shapes and configurations. Materials can range from 2300° LD to 3000° MD and can be rigidized with col. Silica or surface treated with ISAwash. Thickness available up to 6” thick.

For areas that need extra strength, a metal frame work can be formed directly into the cold face or even encapsulated in the vacuum formed cover. Handles or lifting attachments are also available.

Customized shapes may be CNC machined for a precision fit.

Molten Metal Resistant Components

ISA has developed a surface treatment which can be altered to resist various molten metals such as aluminum, brass, steel, and other special metals. The coated shapes are moisture resistant, handle easily and are light weight but strong. These coated parts hold their shape when wet and can be re-dried and used again. This treatment option is good for acidic applications.

ISA has also tested compositions for superalloys and cast iron.

Applications for this product include aluminum troughs and trough covers, crucible lids and pour cups, and inexpensive ladle inserts.
